The Heritage Film is how you do it right.
A Heritage Film is a personal documentary. One day or two, one person or a couple, and created to last and inform generations. We bring the cameras, lights, and production equipment. You bring the stories.
Before the camera rolls, we spend time getting to know the subject. We read the forms that you fill out…just enough to be dangerous and curious in the interview. When filming day arrives, we aren’t reading from a generic list. We know which moment from 1968 we are after and exactly how to get there.
Post-production takes six weeks. The finished film averages 60–90 minutes for a single subject, a bit longer for couples. Delivered on USB and digital download.
Heritage Films come in three formats, depending on who you are filming and how much time you have.

Background. You fill out a few short forms. Basic biographical information and a questionnaire that helps us understand the subject’s story.
Gather. We send a wish list of photographs and documents. Childhood, family, career. Anything that tells the story. If they’re not already digital, we can scan on filming day.
Film. We film at the subject’s home or preferred location. We set up the lights and cameras, get comfortable, and spend our time in conversation. Most subjects forget the camera is there within the first twenty minutes.
Edit. Six weeks in post for one and two-day productions. We weave the interview with photographs, documents, and music to build the finished film. Three weeks for Mementos.
Deliver. USB drive mailed to you. Digital download link. Heritage Films keeps a permanent archive.

The average time from first conversation to finished film is twelve weeks. We have booked as far out as two years and, when circumstances required it, as fast as the next day.
